A fire broke out in the famous pub “Hollywood” in the heart of Pattaya city, more than 50 lives escaped a narrow death. It is claimed to be a history repeating itself. Luckily there was no casualty and total damage was around 1.5 Million Baht.
The frightening incident occurred around 21.00 p.m. on October 23rd , the fire start to break out and burnt the sign in front and the entrance archway which were made from insulated foams. The entrance was decorated like a cave; the strong flame spread very quickly the 50 staff of the pub who were getting prepared to work, rushed outside escaping death.
Police General Mr. Somnuek Jantaraket, Inpector of Pattaya Police Station and Mayor Niran Wattanasatsathorn, together with 8 fire brigades from Pattaya Fire Station rushed to the scene to stop the raving fire.
Fire crew sprayed water on the front entrance, they battled with the flame for about 30 minutes before the fire were under control, the insulated foam is a good fuel but luckily the flame did not spread to the nearby area therefore no tragedy followed.
Police questioned a staff , who was making his escape when the fire broke out. He said that he heard a short circuit sound from the flashing light decorated on the spirit house in front of the entrance to the pub. Suddenly there was a sparkle and the fire quickly started to burn the insulated at the front entrance and it quickly spread to the huge star logo signboards. Seeing the situation wasn’t all that good he quickly made his exit, he tried to extinguish the fire but failed because the fire spread quickly he decided to call Fire Brigade, After the fire subsided it was found that the entrance door which was made of hard insulated foam and the iron structure was completely burnt out as well as the signboard at the entrance. Officer estimated the damage value is approximately 1.5 Million Baht.
Reporters said , this is the second time that the pub had been on fire, the renovation from the first incident had been done not too long and the same thing happened again.
After the incident Mr.Vichai Rodpai or Sia Vichai, Pattaya City Council and owner of the pub came out and will take the responsibilities for the incident. He agreed that it was lucky for no casualties or lost of life. Sia Vichai went on to say that repair work on the damage will be done tomorrow in order to open for service again. Officers are looking into the case and will do further investigation to find out the real caused. it was fortunate that there was no injuries or lost of life
