Formerly the Felix Hotel, the Ramada Karon Beach has 121 rooms most with great sea views over Karon Beach, which is the second largest of Phuket's principal tourist beaches. The entire resort property is now being refurbished into a unique family resort destination. This is expected to be completed by mid November 2006.
Ramada Resort Karon Beach, Phuket will feature 14 rooms in various adventure themes which will include the Spaceship Room, the Underwater Room and the Castle Room. There will also be a huge Kids Club, an X-Box Video Zone, an adventurous water-slide, and a specialty “kids-only” restaurant. The Resort has created the bottom-less ice cream machine providing free ice cream cones to kids all day long. Ernie the Elephant is the Resort’s mascot leading daytime fun activities for kids.
All other room types will feature fashionable Mexican themes. There are also spa treatment beds around the pool, a Siam Adventure Club and World News Coffee, a great coffee shop with latest editions of newspapers from all over the world. Also included are fitness and internet centers, indoor movie hall and an outdoor poolside movie theater.
The main dining facility of the resort is called “Joe Kool’s” which is a diner-inspired rock and roll restaurant with a Cadillac at the center. This restaurant was inspired by real person named Joe Kool - an American kid surfer who moved to Phuket and went on to open his own all-American and all-fun stuff restaurant. The restaurant goes with an unbelievable slogan: The World’s Worst Restaurant – home of lousy food and over-priced drinks, which is totally opposite of what it is offering.
